OK, so I've had it in my head, all along, that I would make a blog, so everybody (primarily Sarah, Jesse, Alli, & Bim) could see what's been happening at home this summer. I've taken a bunch of pictures. But now, of course, I'm wishing I started this a LONG time ago. Oh well!
This first post should include the pictures from last summer's projects:
1. Sperry Tree Care remodeled the trees all around the property, including putting a "cable" in the big cedar tree, so it wouldn't be tempted to fall on the house in a storm. It all felt pretty transformational... when they were done, the trees weren't laying all over the house, the tangled mess that was outside the French doors was a pretty little area (the camelia had to come out), and the big brushy mess between the driveway and the back house became a sweet little line-up.
2. "Burt" and All-Rite Roofing came and tore the old roof off, putting a great new gray roof, instead. It was a big deal that they did with such ease and competence that it seemed like a small deal (a small, expensive deal!) I didn't notice any evil spirits swooshing out the top of the roofless house, but I'm sure they did. It was very nice to know there was a solid roof overhead, and to do the right thing by "the roof at the end of it's life" (quoting Carol Christensen, an expert in houses in general, and 1673 Riverview Street in particular!)
That's last Summer & Fall... I'll describe the projects of the Winter in my next post!
